 A.V. Roe and Company was established on 1 January 1910 in Manchester UK. Although one of the earliest aircraft manufacturers, the name AVRO is synonymous with some of the greatest aircraft of WW2 and beyond. The Avro Lancaster defined itself as the premiere RAF heavy bomber of WW2, and the AVRO Vulcan, the RAF Cold War era nuclear bomber.
